Are there laundry facilities available in each hall?

Yes, each residence hall has washers and dryers.  Laundry facilities are included as part of the tuition.  There will be no additional charge for the use of washers and dryers.  However, the student is responsible for their own laundry detergent, fabric softener, laundry basket, etc.

Can I drink alcohol on campus?

No, the use or possession of alcohol is not permitted on campus.

Can I smoke in my room?

No, smoking and/or chewing of tobacco are prohibited in any building of the Alderson Broaddus University campus. Also, certain building entrances are designated as smoke free.  Please refer to the Student Handbook for details.

How do I get my mail on campus?

All students on campus are assigned a mailbox in the Post Office, located in the ground floor of the Hamer Campus Center.  Students may pick up their keys at the beginning of each semester.

What if I get sick?

Health services are offered at Myers Clinic, located on Route 119 South, in front of Broaddus Hospital (approximately 2 miles from campus).  Please refer to the Student Handbook for their hours of operation.  The student or parent will be responsible for any medical costs incurred.

Can I have a pet on campus?

Because of health factors, pets are not permitted in the residence halls.  Only fish are allowed in student rooms.

What do I do if I lose my ID card?

A duplicate ID card may be obtained for a minimal charge in the Business Office.

How can I watch TV in my Residence Hall?

Benedum, Priestley Hall and Kincaid Residence Center have TV lounges.

When and how do I obtain textbooks?

Textbooks for all courses may be purchased in the University bookstore when you arrive on campus.  The cost of student books range from $350 – $700 per semester, depending on your academic program.  Fall semester textbook costs may be higher than the spring semester; also, some textbooks can be used for more than one course.

Textbooks must be paid for at the time of purchase and may only be charged to your student account if you have a credit balance on your account at the time of purchase.  The bookstore accepts personal checks for the amount of purchase and honors both VISA and MASTERCARD.

Where can I find information on the University’s policies and procedures?

Each freshman is responsible for reading the AB Student Handbook prior to orientation.  It is the student’s responsibility to read, understand and adhere to all policies and procedures.
