Dean’s Welcome

Hello! I have the distinct pleasure of serving as the dean of the College of Humanities, Education & Social Sciences at Alderson Broaddus University. I lead an exemplary team of people as we prepare you to be the teachers for today and tomorrow.

Our faculty are the reason why our graduates are sought after by school boards locally, statewide, and nationally. Our team of instructors care deeply for each and every one of our students. It is not uncommon to see students in faculty offices discussing both course content and life in general, just taking the opportunity to chat. Our doors are always open.

Our team also looks forward to the many social events we host for the students in our college. We look forward to meeting you and helping you ease into our family as we see you in our courses to prepare you for the various roles you will play as teachers.

College of Humanities, Education & Social Sciences at AB

Welcome to the College of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences! I am honored to represent the faculty, our diverse range of majors, and all our college students. Our faculty offices and most courses can be found in Withers-Brandon Hall (WB), with many recent modernized classrooms designed to prepare the 21st-century graduate.

The College of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences is the backbone of a high-quality AB education, as every student receives instruction from faculty based on a general studies foundation. Our faculty serve the University and our students in various ways, ensuring students receive the college experience, learning, and support services that are expected. Whatever the field of study, College of Humanities & Social Sciences students engage in reading, writing, research, and analytical thinking that prepare them for success in many areas of work and post-baccalaureate study. Students are ready for real-world experience, as almost every program requires a practicum, internship, or both. Do not worry, though; our faculty will serve you one-on-one to find an internship that matches your career goals.

Faculty serve as mentors to students and advisers to various campus organizations, including Greek, social, and academic clubs. Students can study abroad with the Semester in Europe program; AB has offered this unique international classroom since 1965.

If you are looking for a home on our welcoming campus, look no further. We offer students the opportunity to begin a lifetime of learning in the humanities, dducation and social sciences, and our faculty members are always available to discuss their educational opportunities.
